Rooted and Built Up: What Colossians 2:7 Means for Everyday Faith

“Rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.” — Colossians 2:7

It’s the verse behind everything we make. It’s printed on the back of every piece we sell, woven into a drawing of an evergreen tree. But what does it actually mean — and why an evergreen?

Rooted

Roots are invisible, and that’s the point. A tree’s roots do their work underground, in the dark, long before anyone sees growth. Paul is describing a faith like that — one that’s anchored deep, not dependent on the weather. Seasons change. Roots hold.

Built up

Rooted is where you start; built up is what happens over time. Faith isn’t a one-time decision — it’s a slow construction. Layer by layer, through ordinary days and hard ones, something steady gets built.

Established

There’s a quiet confidence in this word. Not arrogance — stability. The kind of faith that doesn’t panic when the wind picks up, because it knows what it’s standing on.

Why an evergreen?

Most trees go bare in winter. Evergreens don’t. They stay green in every season — a small, living picture of the faith Paul describes. Steadfast when everything else looks dormant. That image became the heart of our brand: the evergreen tree with a cross for its trunk, printed on the back of every piece.

Wearing it out loud

We started Evergreen Faith Co. because faith this steady deserves to be visible. A verse on your back won’t change the world — but it might start a conversation, or remind you on a hard morning what you’re rooted in.
